What we collect

  • Aggregate page analytics through Vercel Analytics: the page viewed, the referring site, approximate country, and device type. It sets no cookie and builds no cross-site profile.
  • An event when you click an outbound retailer link, recording the retailer, the page you clicked from, and any campaign tag on the URL you arrived with.
  • An event when you arrive from an answer engine (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Copilot), recording which one and the page you landed on.
  • Standard server request logs held by our host, Vercel, which include IP address and user agent.

What we do not collect

  • No accounts, no sign-in, no password for readers.
  • No name, email address, phone number or postal address. There is no form on the site.
  • No payment details. Every purchase happens on the retailer's own site.
  • No advertising cookies, no ad network tags, no session recording.
  • We do not sell or share data with anyone for advertising.

What is stored in your browser

Two localStorage entries. ob_utm is written only if you arrive with utm_ parameters on the URL; it holds those campaign values and expires 24 hours after it is written. likedItems is written when you like a product, and holds the product ids you liked. Your list of likes stays in your browser: a like posts to the site, but nothing about it is stored server side. Clearing site data removes both entries. Nothing else is written to your browser by us.

Affiliate links

mid1 is an Amazon Associate. Outbound buy links carry our Associates tracking tag, and Amazon may set its own cookies once you land there under Amazon's privacy notice, not ours. We may earn a commission on a qualifying purchase at no extra cost to you. We do not receive your order details, only aggregate commission reports.

Processors

  • Vercel: hosting, request logs and analytics.
  • Amazon: product images, served from Amazon's own CDN, and affiliate links.

Your choices

Clearing site data removes the one entry we write. A browser or extension that blocks analytics scripts stops the events described above, and the site works unchanged. To ask what we hold about you, or to ask us to delete it, write to hello@mid1.com.

Children

mid1 is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
